This past weekend my mother-in-law (MIL) and father-in-law (FIL) came to visit us. We had a great time shopping and touring downtown Charleston. Along with all the fun, we were also able to check off another item on our home’s to-do list thanks to my FIL. He graciously painted an accent wall in the study. We had purchased a gallon of Sherwin Williams’ Antiquity (SW 6402) with this coupon. Here’s the wall before:
So very boring and bland! And here’s the wall now:
So much better! When my MIL saw it, she said “Let there be color!” I agree that this color makes such a huge impact especially since it’s the first thing you see when you come in through the front door or garage.
This accent wall is a lot more yellow than the accent color that we did in our old home’s dining room. (That color was Valspar’s New Avocado 6007-6A). The yellow/gold undertones of this color really complement the other gold accents in the pillows and accessories.
The paint also helps the art and accessories pop on this wall.
I also like that it kind of creates a frame for the view into the family room, pulling in the yellow/green tones from the window treatments and chairs. We are so thankful that my FIL helped us out by painting; it has made a major impact on the whole look/feel of our home’s entry. Now we just need to paint all the other walls of the entire house.
