So, after a little over 3 weeks of living in our new home, we were finally able to get the sectional we wanted for the Family Room. Before we moved we had decided on one that we liked from American Signature Furniture; unfortunately, that store doesn’t exist in Charleston. We looked around at some local stores but weren’t impressed, so we decided we had to order it online and drive to Columbia, SC to pick it up from Value City Furniture (affiliate store of American Signature). So here it is:
It’s modern and the dimensions make it a perfect fit for the corner between the 2 windows. I love the dark gray color (great for hiding any spots caused by my kids) and the fact that the back pillows are attached. It’s causal enough for our family and everyday lounging but it looks great as the focal point of the room.
As for other design elements in the room, they’re a mix of old and new.
Lime Pillows (old): originally bought from Marshall’s for 2/$20
Woven Nate Berkus Pillows (new): Target clearance for $7.50 each
Multi-colored Chevron Pillow (new): Ross for $11
Bolsters (old): free from Mom π
Storage Ottomans (old): American Signature/Value City Furniture
Rug by Surya (old): HomeGoods
Floor Lamp (old): Ikea / Paper Shade (new): World Market
4 Chevron Window Panels (new): World Market for $30 total (They’re having a sale right now for 50% off and you can use a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $30 with their Explorer program).
Drapery Pole & Hardware (new): Ross for $5 each
End Table (old): Target clearance
Table Lamp (new): Ross for $15
Chairs (old): Target clearance for $75 each
Gray pillows (old): Target clearance for $12.50 each
TV Unit (old): Ikea
White fabric bins (new): Ikea sale for $2 each
Chevron basket (new): TJ Maxx for $15
Accessories (new): Garden Ridge Clearance
Overall, I’m pleased with how this room is coming together. I’ll continue to add accessories, family photos, etc. Eventually, I would love to add some paint to the walls because the builder white is so boring! I will probably get a larger ottoman or cocktail table to replace the 2 cube ottomans, and I need something on the wall behind the 2 chairs. I would love to hear what you think and if you have any suggestions. And if I left out any info about pieces in the photos, just ask…I don’t mind sharing.

Beautiful job Nene – – you are very talented and have a great eye!!!
Thanks, Ms. Belinda! π
I love the colors you are considering. Based on my love of interior design, I suggest a subtle butter yellow. From one self made decorator to a professionally trained one. You make me proud and more than that you have taken my love of decorating to another height. I trust your design decisions so do you!! Love ya Ma
LOL! Thanks, Mom! π
